Re-weaving repair of family heirloom
Isle of Skye Blanket
location : Geary, Waternish.
circa. 19th century
I was asked to not match the weave/colours back exactly, so the repair could still be seen. I chose a fleece from our 2018 Shetland shearing, selecting similar existing shades to the blanket. I spun five single plys closely matching the original yarns fineness and re-wove the repair. I was honored to be trusted with this families blanket. It was a really satisfying little job!!
